To calculate the cooling capacity required for a room, multiply the length of the room by its width. Then multiply this figure by 500 to get the BTU cooling for the room. EG:. if the room is 6 meters by 6 meters, it comes to 36 square meters, 36 x 500 = 18 000. This area would require 18 000btu to cool the room. This is only a guideline and cooling capacities change due to various factor such as sunshine, electronics, occupancy etc…
An air conditioner with an inverter compressor - the compressor does not run constantly at full power, the compressor ramps up and down as and when cooling is required. This feature makes it more energy efficient. In a non-inverter AC, the compressor cannot be controlled, it either runs at full speed or not at all.
